Admiralty tide data
Tide predictions for locations on UK Tide Times are based on Admiralty tidal information published by the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office (UKHO).
The Admiralty is the UK's national hydrographic service and produces official nautical charts, publications and tidal information used by mariners and other users of the sea.
Admiralty tide predictions are calculated using tidal harmonic data and are intended to provide predicted times and heights of high and low water at specified locations.
Where available, UK Tide Times uses the relevant Admiralty station and its associated station information when presenting tide predictions for a location.
How tide predictions work
Tides are caused primarily by the gravitational effects of the Moon and the Sun, together with the movement of the Earth. The timing and height of tides vary from one location to another.
Tide predictions are calculated using mathematical models based on observed tidal behaviour at individual locations. These predictions provide expected times and heights of high and low water.
