Request a Location
The Request a Location form asks you to provide:
- the region you are interested in; and
- the location you would like us to consider adding to the website.
The Request a Location form does not ask you to provide your name, email address, telephone number, postal address or other personal contact information.
Report a Problem
The Report a Problem form allows visitors to tell us about problems, errors or other issues they have encountered while using UK Tide Times.
The form asks you to provide:
- a description of the problem or issue; and
- an email address, if you choose to provide one.
Providing an email address through the Report a Problem form is optional. If you provide one, we may use it to contact you about the issue you have reported or to request further information where necessary.
Photo submissions
UK Tide Times allows visitors to submit photographs of coastal locations that may be featured on the website.
When you submit a photograph, the Photo Submission form collects:
- the photograph you choose to submit;
- the name of the location;
- your name; and
- your email address.
Your photograph is collected so that we can review it and, where appropriate, feature it on the relevant UK Tide Times location page or elsewhere on the website.
Your name may be displayed alongside your photograph as a photo credit, for example A special thank you to [name] for sharing this image.
Your email address is collected so that we can contact you about your photograph submission if necessary. Your email address will not be displayed publicly alongside the photograph.
We will also keep a record of who submitted the photograph, how it was submitted and when it was submitted. This information may include the name and email address provided with the submission, the photograph itself, the method of submission and the date and time the submission was received.
This record is retained so that we can establish the source and history of a submitted photograph if a copyright, ownership, permission, privacy or other rights issue is raised in relation to the image.
Where necessary, information relating to the person who submitted a photograph, including their name and email address, may be used to contact them or assist in dealing with a copyright or other rights-related issue concerning the photograph.
We do not use information submitted through the Photo Submission form for marketing or advertising purposes.

Favourite location preferences
UK Tide Times allows you to select a favourite coastal location so that the website can remember your preferred location and provide quicker access to its tide information.
Your selected favourite location is stored locally in your web browser using browser local storage. This is a browser technology that allows information to be stored on your device. It is not a traditional cookie and the favourite location information is not sent to UK Tide Times or stored on our servers.
The information stored locally may include:
- the name of your selected favourite location; and
- the website address (URL) of that location.
This information is used solely to remember your preferred UK Tide Times location and allow the website to display or provide quicker access to information for that location.
You can change or remove your favourite location at any time using the favourite location option provided on the website. You can also remove locally stored information by clearing the stored website data in your browser.
Your favourite location preference is stored separately for each browser and device. If you use a different browser or device, your previously selected favourite location may not be available.
How we use information submitted through our forms
Information submitted through the Request a Location form is used to understand which coastal locations visitors would like to see added to UK Tide Times.
We may use this information to assess requests and determine whether a requested location should be added to the website.
Information submitted through the Report a Problem form is used to investigate and resolve problems, errors or other issues reported by visitors.

We may also retain information about the submission, including who submitted the photograph, how it was submitted and the date and time it was received. This information may be used to establish the source and history of a photograph and to assist with any copyright, ownership, permission, privacy or other rights-related issue that may arise.
Where necessary, the name and email address provided with a photograph submission may be used to contact the person who submitted the photograph in connection with a copyright or other rights-related issue.
We do not use information submitted through these forms for marketing or advertising purposes.
How we store information
Information submitted through the Request a Location, Report a Problem and Photo Submission forms may be stored within our website systems so that we can review and manage submissions.
Where an email address is provided through the Report a Problem or Photo Submission forms, that email address may be stored together with the associated submission.
Photographs submitted through the Photo Submission form may be stored within our website systems if they are selected for review or publication.
For photographs submitted through the Photo Submission form, we may retain a record of who submitted the image, how it was submitted and the date and time it was received. This information may be retained even if the photograph is subsequently removed from the website, where it is reasonably necessary to keep a record for copyright, ownership, permission, privacy or other rights-related matters.
Your favourite location preference is stored locally in your browser and is not stored on our servers.
We retain submitted information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including reviewing location requests, investigating website problems and managing photograph submissions. Records relating to photograph submissions may be retained for longer where reasonably necessary to establish the history or source of an image or to deal with an actual or potential copyright or other rights-related issue.
Cookies, local storage and analytics
UK Tide Times uses cookies and similar browser technologies to provide certain website features, remember preferences and understand how visitors use the website.
This includes the use of browser local storage to remember your selected favourite location. Local storage is not a traditional cookie because the information is stored separately by your browser on your device. The favourite location information is not sent to UK Tide Times or stored on our servers.

Favourite location information stored locally in your browser is not transmitted to UK Tide Times and is therefore not available to us through this feature.
